Salamanca MarketsHobart is the second oldest capital city in Australia, located in Australia's furthest southern state of Tasmania. The 2006 census declares the population of Hobart as 217,525; these townspeople of Hobart are known as Hobartians. Tasmania differs to the rest of Australia through the geographical layout of the state with the island of Tasmania having over 1,000 mountain peaks and over 40% of the island is national park territory. The increase of multiculturalism in Hobart has lead to an expansion of the town, offering a newer, more modern living environment in the newer suburbs of Hobart.

Head down to Salamanca Place where you will find 19th-century waterfront warehouses dating back to the 1830s whaling days. Today, they house cafés, restaurants, galleries and art studios, the ideal place to wander or enjoy alfresco dining. Hobart is a city of warm sandstone, bright spinnakers on the water, fish punts at the docks and coffee under the sun umbrellas of Salamanca where the famous Salamanca Market is held every Saturday. You can take in art, craft, music and theatre at Salamanca Arts Centre and the surrounding warehouses. Learn about the Island and the city's history and contemporary life at the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery on Macquarie Street. The already world famous MONA has redefined both art and 'museuming', and is just 15 mins from the city centre. Drive in, or cruise upriver for a unique experience. Child Care

Please note that no official arrangements have been made for child care during the Conference. Please check with the hotel you are staying at who may be able to assist you further with babysitting services during your stay.


The average maximum temperature in October is 17°C and the average minimum temperature is 7.8°C.


All communication with registered delegates will be by email wherever an email address is provided, or by fax. Registration fees do not include insurance of any kind. It is strongly recommended that all delegates take out their own travel and medical insurance prior to coming to the Conference.

The policy should include loss of fees/deposit through cancellation of your participation in the Conference, or through cancellation of the Conference itself, loss of airfares for any reason, medical expenses, loss or damage to personal property, additional expenses and repatriation should travel arrangements have to be altered. Neither the Conference Secretariat nor the Organising Committee will take any responsibility for any participant failing to insure. Please speak to your travel agent or airline in regard to this matter.


MealsAll tea breaks and lunches will be served amongst the exhibition and surrounding foyers. We recognise that some delegates may have special dietary requirements. Please advise the Conference Secretariat via the registration form or in writing should you require alternative arrangements be made on your behalf.

Please Note: Dietary requirements received less than 72 hours prior to the event cannot be guaranteed. Kosher meals may be available, however please note this will be at an additional cost.


Limited undercover parking is available at the venue at a cost and a number of commercial car parks are located nearby.

Visitors to Hobart


International visitors to Australia require a Visa or an electronic travel authority. It is your responsibility to ensure documentation is correct and complete before you commence your journey. Information on obtaining visas or ETA's can be found on the web site - www.eta.immi.gov.au.


As airlines are regularly changing and updating schedules we recommend you check each airlines web site for the best prices and most convenient flights.



Many hotels will recommend and offer an Airport Shuttle service however the Red Line service is available to pre book from the airport to your chosen accommodation. These bookings can be made at www.tasredline.com.au. There are also taxi and bus services that run regularly from the airport to the city centre.
