Topic: ECCO2R in the ICU: Enhancing current practices and exploring future directions Topic: Can automation help us improve lung protection? Topic: Allied Health in Critical Care: Strategies for Integrating New Practices

Extracorporeal carbon dioxide removal (ECCO2R) is an emerging therapy that enables CO2 removal from venous blood in patients with acute hypercapnia.

As ECCO2R therapy adoption evolves in Australia and New Zealand, best practice sharing is key to a greater understanding of ECCO2R and its role in the ICU.

Dr Pestana will present recent ECCO2R evidence, clinical experience and practical learnings from his centre.

Lung-protective ventilation is a cornerstone of critical care, yet its consistent application remains challenging due to the complexity of individual patient responses and clinician variability.

This talk explores the role of automation in optimizing mechanical ventilation to enhance lung protection, by optimizing settings like tidal volume, driving pressure, and PEEP.

This talk explores how automated systems, from closed-loop ventilation to AI-driven support, can improve consistency, reduce clinician burden, and align practice with evidence-based strategies.

Allied Health (AH) practices can vary significantly across critical care units, in some cases due to challenges and resistance faced when introducing new practices.

This one-hour panel discussion aims to delve into these challenges, focusing on strategies to foster collaboration, achieve buy-in, and successfully integrate new clinical practices.

The session will provide a valuable opportunity for AH Professionals working in critical care to share their experiences, ask questions and learn from one another.

The panel will consist of three AH Professionals who have successfully integrated new clinical practice in a critical care environment, as well as Dr Jenny Rudolph, Senior Director of Innovation at the Harvard Center for Medical Simulation, and Dr Alex Psirides, Intensive Care Specialist and Co-Director of Wellington ICU.

Our AH speakers will share their stories, followed by a facilitated discussion where Dr Rudolph, Dr Psirides and the AH members will answer questions and share practical suggestions to effectively integrate AH practices
